HP laptops – A history

Electronic manufacturer Hewlett Packard was created in 1935. The brain child of two Stanford University graduates, the company initially designed and built audio oscillators for movies theatres in a shed in Palo Alto.

In 1986 however, they designed their first personal computer, the Hewlett-Packard 9100A. This was the beginning of the HP laptops range. HP introduced their most famous HP laptops range, the HP laptop Pavillion, in 1995. In 2002, HP increased the number of HP laptops on the market with the acquisition of Compaq Computer Corporation.

The company employs 172,000 employees worldwide and in 2007, generated over $104 billion. Hp is the largest seller of computers in the world and HP laptops are some of the most popular across the globe.
