Dell laptops - History
Dell launched its range of
Dell laptops in 1989 with the 316LT. In 1991, the first Dell laptop with a colour screen was announced and the 325NC ran at 25MHZ and cost just under $4,500. Since then, Dell have been refining and redesigning their Dell laptops. Having received over 400 product awards in 2007, Dell laptops are some of the best on the market and there are four major ranges of Dell laptops available. The current range of Dell laptops, the Dell Inspiron, is one of the most popular Dell laptops available on the market. The Inspiron Mini 9 Dell laptop is one of the world’s smallest notebooks and the most advanced mini Dell laptop on offer today.
Dell's Reputation
Dell has one of the world's best customer service records. A multi-award winning service, Dell has been praised for its efficient response to customer queries about their Dell laptops and computers. In 2007, the support website for Dell laptops and desktops was the winner of the Ten Best Web Support Sites. It was the sixth time the support website for Dell laptops and desktops was awarded the prize. It was also one of eight winning sites from the Localization Industry Standards Association in the Best International Web Support Sites awards, also in 2007.
As a business, Dell has a very successful green record. While their global headquarters in Texas is powered entirely by green energy, the company also runs a very successful computer recycling operation – offering customers the chance to recycle their Dell laptops or desktop computers free of charge. In 2007, Dell was awarded an award from the National Recycling Coalition for its recycling scheme for Dell laptops and computers. Indeed, in July the company announced it had exceeded its target of recovering 275 million pounds of computer equipment – such as Dell laptops – by 2009. In June, Dell also announced it was aiming to become the greenest technology company on Earth.
