Sitting right there in the world's big 4 computer manufacturers, you'll find Lenovo laptops. Not only are they one of the biggest computer makers in the world, but Lenovo are actually the biggest in their home country of China. Oh, and it's not just Lenovo laptops you'll see out there, as they also make desktops, handheld computers and severs, as well as imaging equipment.
Originally founded in 1984, it began trading in Hong Kong, and was known originally as the Legend Group. That name changed, though, which is why we now have Lenovo laptops, not Legend laptops. As for where the name came from, well, it's a combination of two words: the first bit of 'Legend', mixed with 'novo', the pseudo-Latin for new. So, when you're talking about Lenovo laptops, the name basically means 'legendary new laptops', which in itself is pretty cool!
As with many other companies, it's not just on Lenovo laptops that you'll see their company name. Lenovo also designed the 2008 Olympic torch, being a major sponsor of the Beijing Olympics. They also have their hand in the world of motorosport, as Williams F1 cars share a badge with Lenovo laptops. As sporting pedigrees go, a laptop that shares a badge with an F1 car is right up there!
