Computer hardware company Fujitsu has set the tech community buzzing with the showcasing of a new series of gesture controlled laptops. The Fujitsu AH700 series allows users to control aspects of the laptop using hand gestures.
The laptops work by recognising hand gestures through the webcam. The user can then operate the laptop’s controls, such as volume and video playback, by simply moving their hands around in front of the laptop screen. The AH series laptops also offer a lot in the way of processing power with a choice between the Intel Core i3 or i5, and the AMD Athlon II processors.
Though not much more is known about the specs of these laptops, they have already sparked debate over their functionality. Some believe that the failure of Toshiba’s Qosmio G50 proves that there is no market for gesture controlled laptops and that the capability is no more than a gimmick.
