Summer sees launch of new Sony Vaio NW
Cheap laptops from Sony will be in the shops this summer. Generally, Sony laptops aren’t known for their budget prices, however, the new Vaio NW is being promoted as the first entry-level priced laptop with
Blu-ray technology.
The retail price for the new Sony laptops is around £485, with a £50 supplement to add Blu-ray. Although the term ‘entry-level’ may be stretching its market position a touch, it’s still an extremely low price for
high-spec Sony laptops with Blu-ray capability.
The new Sony laptops also deliver in appearance. They have a sleek, smooth-edged design that comes in a choice of soft colours. Users can opt for a birch white, walnut brown or rattan silver chassis, however, all are finished in the same way, with the stylish “VAIO” logo embossed across the front.
Cheap laptops and the spec stakes
While there is no new technology in these Sony laptops, it’s impressive that a Sony Vaio with Blu-ray is available at under £550. That isn’t to say, however, that they do not deliver in the spec stakes. Windows Vista Home Premium will come as standard, and there will be 4GB of RAM to support it. Powered by a 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, each will sport 400GB of HD space and a 15.5” X-BRITE-ECO LCD widescreen.
The new Sony laptops can be enhanced further by adding the optional ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics cards which adds vibrancy to the displays. The standard 4-hour battery life, 3 USB ports and various memory card slots confirm that the spec is everything you would expect from Sony laptops.
When coupled with Blu-ray capabilities and an affordable price tag, these are Sony laptops not to be missed.
