The existence of Apple laptops' new tablet device appears to have been confirmed by a cease and desist letter sent to one online news source.
Gawker Media was sent a request by Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe solicitors asking that they discontinue a 'Scavenger Hunt' to find information about the new Apple laptops tablet.
The website had previously asked anyone connected with the Apple laptops project to send in photos, videos or demos of the machine in exchange for a $100,000 'bounty'.
While the legal letter, which outlined to Gawker why Apple believed the website's actions to be unlawful, does not explicitly confirm the existence of the Apple laptops tablet, many are taking it as proof that the machine is in development – "Do companies send out C&D notices for non-existent products?," said one.
Meanwhile, searches done on the servers at Apple laptops' HQ appear to suggest that workers are testing tablet software ahead of launch.
